Our day of Ayurvedic Subtle Therapies opens in the stillness of Akasha with a live sound bath. Breathwork, movement, and anointment awaken Vayu and touch. Trataka candle-gazing soothes the eyes and heart. A six-taste ceremony leads into a kitchari lunch. A botanical scent journey moves through the five elements. An elemental body scan and closing circle seal the day. Each sense organ, receives its proper object, aligning soul, mind, organ, and object in Pancha Indriya Buddhi.

Scott and Jennifer will guide you on a transformative journey through the ether, using the power of sound and vibration. The ether, or space element, holds within it the essence of the four earthly elements: Air, Fire, Water, and Earth. Through an immersive sound experience, you’ll journey through each element. Bowls, gongs, drums, chimes, and other instruments will create a rich tapestry of sound, inviting you to relax, reconnect, and experience the elements in a deeply resonant way.

Flow into the second element air with Doris Elter, Advanced Ayurvedic Practitoner. Air is the second element created by the vibration of sound. Air provides movement in our bodies and our universe, and our sense of touch. Feel the air element in your body as Doris guides us all through a gentle restorative yoga practice and breathwork, followed by an organic oil anointment and warmed towels applied to hands or feet.

Soften into a Trataka practice where we will invite our eyes to alternate between focus on the flame of a candle and then closing them and holding the image at the brow, the seat of inner sight. In Ayurveda, Alochaka Pitta in the eyes takes in what we see, and Sadhaka Pitta, seated in the heart, digests those impressions into feeling and understanding. When the eyes are tired and overstimulated, the heart feels it too, so soothing the eyes becomes a gentle way of soothing the heart.

Settle in for our six-taste ceremony with internationally acclaimed chef Josie Clemens. Savor one small taste at a time: sweet, sour, salty, pungent, bitter, and astringent. With each one, we take time to pause and notice how it lands. Feel the warmth, the brightness, the cooling, the gentle drying, and the way your body softens or wakes in response.

After waking up our sense of taste, we gather for a warm bowl of kitchari, Ayurveda's most comforting meal. Golden mung beans and basmati rice simmer slowly with cumin, turmeric, and ginger until soft and easy to digest, gently kindling agni, your digestive fire, while calming all three doshas. It is food that asks nothing of you but to receive it. Our ahara, our nourishment, is lovingly prepared by chef Josie Clemens from the Food Network, and the first vegan chef to compete on Hell's Kitchen.

Over lunch, Basics to Wellness joins us for a conversation on water, the essential elixir of life. In Ayurveda, Jala, the water element, holds us together, carries nourishment to every tissue, and gives rise to taste itself. Basics to Wellness teaches that the body is particular about the water it receives, and that not all H2O is equal. You'll explore how the quality of the water you drink, from tap and bottled to filtered and ionized, may shape hydration, and how to honor Jala in your daily li

Smell is the sense of Prithvi, the earth element, the most grounded of the five. In our scent journey, botanical oils handcrafted by Monique Herzig of Alchemy Slow Living, guide us through all five elements, from the spaciousness of Akasha - ether, to the steady embrace of Prithvi - earth. Breathe slowly, notice what each aroma stirs, and let the body settle into stillness. Each guest will leave with a small gift to carry the journey home.
Close your journey with a body scan inviting you to view the five great elements in the body and then opening to see how our bodies are not separate from our environment and universe, and part of the divine flow of life.
